Ever since my friends and I took the camera class (see here and here) I have been toting Tim’s Nikon D5000 everywhere with me to practice taking photos (sorry friends). I am starting to figure out what works and what doesn’t, and you can see the drastic improvement in the photo quality when I stopped using my iPhone and started with the DSLR. Still working on the taking the photos part, but I am having fun doing it.
After playing with the camera for a while, I started getting curious about editing the photos and enhancing the images I was taking. After a bit of research, I downloaded Adobe Lightroom from the Creative Cloud. I played around with that for a while, but still didn’t know what I was doing, so I also took another class from Austin, the same guy I took the camera class from (totally recommend contacting him if you are interested in learning about Lightroom or cameras). I learned so much more about using Lightroom and am way more confident editing pictures.
So putting my new found skills to the test, last week my friend Lauren asked me to take some family/maternity photos of her adorable family before their new baby arrives. I had never shot portraits before, so I was a bit nervous about it, but in the vein of trying to always say yes, I did it. It was a bunch of fun, and I think the photos came out great.
Below are some of the photos from the shoot that I thought came out the best. Thanks Lauren and Jay for a fun evening, and a new challenge! And Happy 1 Year Anniversary!
